Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Train run if it's Raining?
Yes. Berkshire Scenic trains operate rain or shine.
Are there Restroom Facilities on the train?
Restroom facilities are available on all trains as well as in the stations at Lenox and Stockbridge.
Can I Reserve Tickets in Advance?
No. All regularly scheduled trains are unreserved and tickets are sold on a first come - first served basis. Trains run with ample capacity and rarely sell out during much of the season. However, during peak foliage season, capacity becomes limited and there is a minimal chance that a train will sell out.
Where can I Purchase Tickets?
Tickets can be purchased at Berkshire Scenic Railways' Lenox Station or on board trains. Cash and major credit cards are accepted at the Lenox Station. When purchasing tickets on board, train personnel can accept cash only and cannot accept bills over $20.00.
Can I Purchase a One-Way Ticket?
Yes. You can travel one way on any Berkshire Scenic train. Call the Museum for one way ticket pricing.
Can I Smoke on the Train?
Smoking is not allowed on any passenger train. Smoking is also prohibited in all stations.
Is Food Available on the Train?
No. There is no food service on board our trains. We do however, have chilled bottled water for sale on board.
Can I bring Food & Beverages on the Train?
Yes. Food and beverages may be consumed while on board all trains.
Can I Bring my Pet on the Train?
Only "service" animals accompanying passengers, or for training purposes, are allowed on board any train.
Is the Train Handicap Accessible?
We make every reasonable effort to accommodate our visitors' needs. However, handicapped accessibility on board is limited due to the narrow vestibules and door openings on our historic passenger cars. Power wheel chairs that do not exceed 26" wide by 36" long usually will fit in the cars. Handicapped accessible lifts are located at Lenox and Stockbridge stations. Please contact us with additional details relative to any special requirements prior to your visit so that we can ensure a pleasant one.
